Bind together. Send secure.

We are passionate about leading the thought behind and wrap around our New Zealand’s pallets. It’s how we look beyond the package to the products, processes and potential of our clients. It’s why we now lead the way in specialised pallet wrapping film, machinery, application and optimisation.

Since we first opened our doors in 1985 our team has worked with New Zealand companies from Kaitaia to the Bluff. Be it light or heavy, from tissue paper to concrete blocks, if it’s dispatched on a daily basis the chances are that we’ve helped to wrap it.

This experience is vital. Correct stretch wrapping not only ensures goods arrive in the best condition, it minimises damage costs and maximises process efficiency. That’s why we take a broad view of your operation – to see where we can save time and money within every aspect of your pallet wrapping process.

Pallet wrap, shrink wrap or stretch film, you can call it what you want. But when you need to get the most from product and process, from how and where it’s wrapped to the security, efficiency and cost effectiveness of shipping goods, call us first.

Founded by Neville Goddin in 1985, Universal Packaging originally started as a contract packing company servicing the chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. In 1988 we diversified into specialty containers, closures and primary packaging for these industries and, for close to two decades, worked hard to meet the ever-changing demands for packaging.

In 2007 this changed with the progression into our current business focus. Businesses were crying out for better, faster, more effective load containment. It was a need that could not be ignored. So we began to focus solely on end of line packaging, specialising in pallet load containment products and machinery.

The equipment. In 2009 we became the sole NZ distributor for Wulftec’s range of pallet wrapping and strapping machinery. In 2011 we added the Spinny range to our stable, becoming exclusive NZ distributors for this technology also. In 2013 we undertook Australasia’s first ever installation of dual floor-mounted rotary arm Wulftec stretch wrappers. Since then we’ve introduced energy efficient freezer models, and more recently we’ve been installing safety systems around a range of stretch wrapping equipment.

The wrap. We’ve also stayed on the cutting edge of product development. In 2010 we launched ClearWrap, this high performance film proving to be immediately popular. In 2012 SmartWrap was introduced, again to widespread appeal. In 2017 XTWrap arrived and in 2018 the innovative 33- layer Nanowrap became a game-changer for many kiwi companies.

The system. In 2017 we began trailing our SCOPE programme, with further development in 2018 and new technology debuting in 2019. This real-time film monitoring system provides a clear and comprehensive view of every pallet wrapped. Now companies can correctly assess, refine and manage all packaging processes with far greater confidence than ever before.

Sustainability

We take pride in the consistent improvement of product and process to meet and exceed sustainability targets.

Let’s be honest – many will say a company in the plastic industry has no business highlighting sustainability issues. The reality is that we work with raw material that is harmful to the environment when not used correctly and recycled properly.

However plastic wrap is still the best way of preventing damage to goods in transit. Without it, there would be much more waste. It is necessary, but so too is our responsibility to limit its use.

This is why we continue to strengthen our efforts to ensure our products are used in the most sustainable way possible. Not only are we helping to dramatically reduce waste; we’re also actively developing new solutions that will help deliver a far more sustainable future.

The continued good health of our local, national and global environment is crucial to this future. We want the next generation to inherit a world we are proud of.

Values

We work together. As individuals we work with total commitment for the ongoing success of the company. As a company we work for the shared enjoyment and victories of our people. It’s really that simple.

We aim high. With passion and professionalism, experience and expertise, nothing is impossible. Our ability to get large projects over the line is well known, and we take pride in how we can ‘find a way when there is no way’. With strategic thinking and a focus on tomorrow we are ready for every opportunity ahead.

We wrap tight. In the art and science of logistics there can be millions in the millimetres. That’s why on each and every job we stay focused and work hard. Diligence is vital. When it comes to our customer’s need for optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness, near enough is not good enough. It’s got to be right.

We see right. Our customers know that if we say we can do it, we will. We ensure this happens with thorough knowledge of products, processes and equipment. We undertake it with a can-do attitude and our ‘all for one, one for all’ team-wide mindset.

We deliver as promised. Our work is to bind. Our word is our bond. To ensure long-term success the reputation of our company must be incontestable. We must therefore remain transparent in our motives and true to our word, accepting responsibility and delivering accountability.

For over three decades we’ve been making sure everything’s tight and right for Kiwi businesses.
Correct stretch wrapping not only ensures goods arrive in the best condition, it minimises damage costs and maximises process efficiency. That’s why we take a broad view of your operation – to see where we can save time and money within every aspect of your pallet wrapping process.

Pallet wrap, shrink wrap or stretch film, you can call it what you want. But when you need to get the most from product and processes, from how and where it’s wrapped to key matters of security, efficiency and cost effectiveness, call us first.
