Par on the course
Whether they had the drive for success or were just putting around, everyone who attended this year’s Total, Spicers & Universal Packaging Golf Day was swinging fore the best. Par Gardiner, Spicers Marketing Assistant, reported back from the green.
It was another hole in one for the annual charity
golf day.
Bad puns aside, this annual event is an important fundraiser for many of New Zealand’s most worthy causes. Held at Pakuranga Golf Club in 2024, the event raised an incredible $22,900 for Little Miracles Trust, a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to families with babies in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) or SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit).
“The charity has a team of dedicated volunteers, predominantly made up of ex-NICU and SCBU parents, who provide onsite care and support at hospitals for new parents going through this trying time,” says Par. “We know just how stressful this is for parents – and just how important it is to have proper support during such difficult circumstances.”
Universal Packaging sponsored the 10th hole and was represented by our GM, Kylie, Sales Manager Darrin and Development Manager Ash.
“We also had Sharyn, our development manager, on the green playing,” says Par.
“I’m sure all the players enjoyed our UP-sponsored hole, where we’d organised a mini game so players could win some nifty spot prizes while they waited to tee off.”
For Universal Packaging, the day is an important chance to give back to our local community.
“Events like this are such a win-win for us,” says Par. “We get to enjoy quality time with staff, customers, and suppliers – and all the fun and competition also delivers much-needed financial aid to vital charities.”
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the good-natured competitiveness of our participants, and the hard work of the volunteers. See you all at the next one!
There was also a popular dunk tank sponsored by Avery Dennison, which generated a lot of laughs (and carefully aimed throws from participants).
“One of their team, Douglas Brown, was a great sport and sat for the entire day while teams came around and paid for a chance to get him in the water,” says Par. “What a champ!”
After a successful day on the greens the players moved back to the club rooms for a beverage or two, the charity auction, and prizegiving.
