Compassion, measured by the pallet-load
The work being undertaken with Operation 322 is vital, with the incredible number of people displaced by the war highlighting just how many ‘care pallets’ are needed.
In response to the war in Ukraine, humanitarian organisation Rapid Relief Team (RRT) launched Operation 322 to deliver emergency food and personal care supplies to citizens displaced by Russian attacks.
According to the United Nations, more than 11 million people are believed to have fled their homes in Ukraine since the invasion began, with over 5.5 million leaving for neighbouring countries, and another 6.5 million displaced within the country itself.
Truckloads of items are being delivered, providing safe and much needed assistance to refugees across Europe.
This humanitarian disaster requires a planetary effort. RRT were prepared to provide as much aid as possible through the launch of Operation 322. An initial fundraising target of £250,000 was surpassed after just 20 hours, and the organisation responded by ramping up their operation. As a result, more than £1 million was raised.
Using these funds, RRT’s volunteers from the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Sweden have come together to purchase and pack the items ready for shipping. Pallets of essential food and personal care products, including baby care kits with formula and nappies, bottled water, blankets and non-perishable food items, are being wrapped in pallet wrap for safe transport by truck to refugees all over Europe and the United Kingdom. With donations still pouring in, RRT are committed to sending two to three trucks per week for the foreseeable future to support the refugees.
RRT has teams around the world, including in New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, North and South America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe, and work to help any groups in need, including those affected by war, weather events and other disasters.
We are proud to have supported RRT in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The work being undertaken with Operation 322 is vital, with the incredible number of people displaced by the war highlighting just how many ‘care pallets’ are needed.
