Meet the Team: Jackson Jones, Sales Support
Some people are just naturals when it comes to building relationships. Jackson Jones is one of them. His easy-going nature and genuine enthusiasm for helping others has made him a popular (not to mention effective) member of the Universal Packaging team since joining just over a year ago.
Working in a sales support capacity, he’s the quietly indispensable engine behind the team on the road, making sure they have everything they need to keep customers happy and close new business.
We sat down with Jackson to find out a bit more about the man and his work.
What does your day to day look like?
I work closely with our sales team, providing support with quotes, orders, and samples, along with helpful information on trends and spending – things like which products they’re using and order trends. When I’m not busy with that I also look after some of our internal sales customers.
What have been the challenges and victories along the way?
Challenges? It does take time to get across our full product range and all the applications – there’s a lot to learn. But it becomes second nature. As for victories, there have been plenty to share among the team. Whether it’s helping a customer cut film waste and benefit the environment, or playing a part in winning a new account, those moments are what matter.
What is the secret to doing well in your job?
Communication and understanding. Being able to clearly connect all parties with genuine understanding is essential to making sure things run smoothly. Get that right and things go smoothly.
What do you enjoy most about working at Universal?
The people. The team here is genuinely great to work with and that makes a real difference every day. I also really enjoy being able to help customers. When we can sort something out quickly and confidently – that’s the part of the job that feels genuinely rewarding.
Any recreational interests outside of work?
Football has always been my sport. I played growing up and I’m a passionate Arsenal supporter. Then I hit 30 and decided it was time to pick up golf. I’ve been loving it ever since, getting out most weekends with a mate (when the weather plays ball too).
What are you surprisingly good at?
My wife would say it’s getting along with people. She always jokes that it’s annoying how I can walk up to anyone, anywhere, and come away as friends. I just think life’s too short not to give it a go.
What’s important to you in life?
Friends and family, 100%. My family has always been there for me – and friends are the family you get to choose. I feel very lucky on both counts.
